Our vision is to create a space where people will get strong and fit in the safest way possible, supported by programs that are 360-degrees.
We are Greenville, South Carolina’s premier CrossFit, strength and conditioning and olympic weightlifting gym. We pride ourselves on emphasizing safe movements and proper technique, which is consistently coached and re-coached in order to improve overall performance.
Here, you’ll find wide-open spaces for workouts and movements that are constantly varied, always challenging and never boring.
But more importantly, you won’t find a group of people who just happen to be at the gym at the same time, isolated by headphones and televisions; you’ll find a community of athletes, coaches, moms, dads, friends, who all care, cheer on and motivate one another to be the best versions of themselves.
“James cares deeply that you have the right form…I have relearned a few lifts and already feel 100% better than I did at my previous gym.”
Lion’s Roar coaches are passionate about proper form and adequate recovery. Poor mechanics don’t just make for lousy Instagram content – it steals time off your scores, pounds from your lifts and opens you up to sidelining injuries. Our coaches will teach you what the proper positions feel like, how to move efficiently, and will scale movements up or down depending on your abilities.
Lion Cub Fitness (KidFit)
We want real results. We want our athletes to progress, to hit new PRs, to better their form and technique, and to build confidence in and out of our garage bays. But that doesn’t happen by magic. Without direction, thoughtful programming and vigilant coaching, the hours you spend in the gym are just spinning wheels. You’ll work up a sweat, your effort will be the same — but when you look back, will you have made any progress?
Probably not, and definitely not as much as you could have. Train smarter at Lion’s Roar with a passionate, expert coach in your corner.

Alyssa McNeel joined the Lion’s Roar community in January 2017 after moving to Greenville from New Hampshire. She holds a CrossFit Level One certification and has three years of group fitness instruction experience. Her favorite aspect of CrossFit is the idea of functional fitness and seeing movements from the gym translate to everyday life. Alyssa grew up being “generally active” but hated the idea of working out and refused to go to the gym. In 2012 that changed when she discovered group classes. She developed a passion for fitness and began pursuing her certifications. She loves the challenge of CrossFit and aims to help others reach their goals whether they’re experienced or just beginning their journey.
